We are very much aware that buying at auction can seem a daunting process but we are sure that you will find it both enjoyable and rewarding. There is a particular feeling of excitement and achievement in buying at auction for the first time.
Information for Buyers Saturday Auction times Please note that all our Saturday auctions run simultaneously. The starting lot numbers in each saleroom are as follows:
Viewing All salerooms are open for viewing between 2.00pm and 6.45pm every Friday. Viewing can also take place on the day of sale from 9.00am.
Bidding Cards Prospective buyers are requested to complete a buyer registration form at our Accounts Office and to collect a numbered bidding card prior to the sale. The card can be used in any of our auction rooms but only for this week’s auctions. When bidding please have the number ready to hold up should the lot be sold to you. When you have finished buying the card should be destroyed. In the event of loss please inform the Accounts Office immediately.
Absentee Bids If you are unable to attend the sale you can leave an absentee bid by completing one of the special forms which are available at the Accounts Office or in the salerooms. You should fill in the lot number, description and the maximum price you are prepared to pay. Please ensure that the lot number is correct and that you have given us your full address with at least one contact telephone number. We will use our best endeavours to buy the lots for you as cheaply as possible allowing for other bidders and any reserve prices. Conditions under which we accept commission absentee bids are set out on the absentee bid form. A member of our staff will be pleased to advise you of the approximate time which a lot may be sold and we recommend that you telephone us to establish whether you have been successful thereafter.
Payment We accept payment by cash, cheques supported by a valid cheque guarantee card, Visa, and Mastercard credit cards, Maestro and most debit cards. Note: Payment by Credit Card will be subject to a charge of 1.5% (vat inclusive), with the exception of American Express cards for which the handling charge is 3% (vat inclusive). There are no additional charges for payment by Debit Card.
