A cigarette case bearing a crest 'HMS Rodney' and engraved 'Capt. Robert Oliver Fitzroy'. Case still contains six 'King Sano' cigarettes. Captain Fitzroy took command of HMS Rodney in September 1943 and remained Captain of the ship until 1945. During his tenure the battleship took part in the Normandy landings, bombarding German positions behind Sword beach on the night of June 6th 1944. Earlier in the war, in 1941, HMS Rodney had been instrumental in the sinking of the German battleship 'Bismark'.
