Sold for £4,200 - Two Broadway Cinema Loveseats designed by Sir Paul Smith

Our Saturday the 19th September auction brings you a piece of cinema history in the form of two love seats from Nottingham’s Broadway Cinema. Even better, they're the personal work of Sir Paul Smith, a Nottingham son and one of the world’s greatest fashion designers.

The Broadway is almost as famous as Sir Paul himself. The designer is a long-time patron of the picture-house and created the interior of Screen 4 in his own iconic style back in 2006. The public and movie press were more than impressed and Broadway soon earned the accolade ‘the smartest cinema in the world’ from Total Film magazine. The journal praised its ‘deliciously dapper chocolate, multi-colour striped love seats’, and ranked Broadway right alongside world-renowned cinemas including La Pagode, Paris and Mann's Chinese Theatre, Los Angeles.

The seats are now synonymous with the cinema and most will be repurposed within the building as part of current renovations. However, Broadway is a charity, and to help raise funds it’s offering two pairs in our auction. Needless to say, this really is a very special opportunity.

Broadway is getting ready for a very welcome reopening on the 25th of September, so it won’t be long before you can go along and enjoy one of Nottingham’s best destinations. Meanwhile, if a unique chance to make these iconic chairs a part of your home sounds too good to miss, make sure you register to bid on our website through our AJ Live platform. The full catalogue and auction sign-up will be available on Wednesday 16th September, and the sale starts live on Saturday morning at 10am. So, get registered, log on - and don’t forget your popcorn!
